The auditorium was glistening with army barracks, geared up for the fight that was about to begin. Hammocks and clan flags hung in the air, defining the one moment, THE GIGAHERTZ IT COMPETITION, "Save the world this may", that was about to begin.
With the recent Iraq war, SARS crisis, and terrorist uncertainty in the world, there couldn't have been a time more apt, for the theme of the competition to take plunge for reality.

The contestants, divided into three large groups or task forces, were set out so to find the terrorist, Dr Yuri, behind all current attacks on the Land of Omerta. There was only one way of course to do this, using their IT skills.
Spawned over one and a half days, on the 29th and 30th May in the laboratories and auditorium of NTU, the task forces battled quiz questions, programming problems and html contents, to unfold the mysteries for clues that lead that to the evil and amoral terrorist, Dr Yuri.
Though Dr Yuri, was successfully captured in the end, whether he was actually destroyed, or not, remains the lingering question, looming until the next Gigahertz..
The organisers had other fun parts arranged for the contestants and visitors, like the four x-box gaming booths set up, with the much reviewed beach volleyball, hot car-racing and other games of the like to be played. All day long.
