  An action-packed movie date

Alumni and friends pack the GV Grand theatre for the private screening of The Forbidden Kingdom.

Movie screenings, the Alumni Affairs Office's popular perk for alumni, got off to a kicking start when it brought alumni its first private screening of the year on 20 April.

Movie buffs were excited to watch the highly anticipated The Forbidden Kingdom, a movie that marks the first ever onscreen pairing of two martial arts stars, Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

All 500 tickets for the movie, priced at only $8 each including a special pre-event reception, were quickly snapped up.

Long queues, mostly comprising those in their 20s and 30s, started forming at the venue, GV Grand, an hour before the movie started at 3.30pm.

Systems analyst Kho Wooi Jeen (EEE / 1998) was there with several other friends from NTU. "I come for almost every movie screening with the same group of friends," he says, adding that the outing was an opportunity for him to gather, chit chat and have fun with his friends.

Avid movie fan Steven Lim Wee Kiat (EEE / 2002) was there with his wife. The Quality Assurance Engineer goes to the cinema about once a week. "I learnt about this event from ClassACT, the e-zine. It's my first time at such an event!" says Steven who enjoys action-packed movies.

Lim Hong Loon (MSc TIP / 2005) was at the screening with two friends in tow. "We're often too busy to get together so this is a good way to meet and we heard that this is a good movie," he says. On his wishlist: more action-packed shows!

Many other alumni also took the chance to gather with former classmates and network with fellow alumni. Lai Leong Chin (MAE /1989) says, "In fact, I watch only about 3 movies a year. I came today to network and catch up with old friends."

Do keep a lookout for our next movie screening!
