They deserve the recognition for their effort in building bridges between students and alumni.
The Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) held an appreciation lunch for at least 71 Student Alumni Associates (SAA), to recognise the pivotal role they play whilst still students of NTU, towards the cultivation of alumni relations. They are part of the SAA Programme initiated by AAO two years ago, for students to cultivate alumni relations during their campus life.
The appreciation lunch was held on 29 March, at Bar None, one of the pubs of St James Power Station. It was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Soon Min Yam, Director of Alumni Affairs, NTU.
On the importance of early cultivation of alumni relations by students, who are future alumni, Mr Soon stressed: "You (SAA) are the University's asset…Your relationship with NTU after graduation is one that is lifelong…As a Student Alumni Associate, you play a very important role. You are our bridge between the student population and the alumni of NTU, promoting strong ties and relationship." Mr Soon also encouraged the students to continue their effort and to remain active after they graduate.
"Aside from our involvement in the NTU Motoring Club, working hand in hand with the Alumni Affairs Office through the Student Alumni Associate programme helps to enrich our campus experience. So far, we have helped the Office organise activities for the alumni and school population. I believe in the old Chinese saying – 饮水思源." - Tan Pinlin, Virnice, Student Alumni Associate, President, NTU Motoring Club
