Alumni form the NTU Sports Club Alumni Association for the pursuit of health and passion.

A group of alumni passionate about sports made it official, finally. Formerly, members of the NTU Sports Club student body during their NTU days, these alumni set up the NTU Sports Club Alumni Association (NTU Sports Club AA). The association is the seventh interest-bound alumni association NTU has launched so far, with the facilitation of the Alumni Affairs Office.

Why NTU Sports Club AA?
Of the latest set-up, Guest-of-Honour and Dean of Students, Professor Lok Tat Seng, said: "I am glad to see the NTU Sports Club Alumni Association formed… I see the association promoting the concept of good living. I think there is a need to persuade more people to lead a healthy life and get involved in activities… It will continue to generate interest for sports, which has been very much a part of the NTU education. The University values a healthy mind, a healthy soul and a healthy body. I certainly look forward to more sporty activities from the association."

Prof Lok, accompanied by Mr Soon Min Yam, Director of Alumni Affairs, as well as the newly formed association's leaders, Mr Tan Chia Liang, President, and Mr Yew Yee Leong, Vice President, launched the set up. With confetti popping, the 60 alumni, students and staff present, cheered.

Continuing the culture
Elated, the President of the new association, Chia Liang, shared that he had wanted to see the continuation of the "NTU Sports Club culture". He wasn't alone in his vision. All alumni present demonstrated the culture that was unique to the Sports Club – community spirit – through their participation in games and quizzes held during the event. It didn't matter that most of them had not met one another for a while.

Games like "Don't Forget the Lyrics" got alumni and students, singing their hearts out, whilst the video screening of past Sports Club orientation camps liven up the spirit.

Chia Liang, who helms the NTU Sports Club AA, rallied for more support from alumni in his welcome address. He also invited all to tap the new avenue for the sharing of passion, sporty pursuits and networking. He is an alumnus from the School of Materials and Aerospace Engineering's Class of 2005.

The launch event was held on 4 April, at the Geek Terminal café, located in Raffles Place.
