Alumni from the Classes of 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003 attended their joint anniversary reunion on 23 August.

The alumni from these classes came together as one at NTU's Nanyang Auditorium foyer to celebrate their 20th, 15th, 10th and 5th reunion anniversaries, respectively. It was a day of celebration for the alumni as they caught up with not only their former classmates, but also their professors.

Special Guest Professor Er Meng Hwa, NTU's Senior Associate Provost graced the momentous occasion. Giving a welcome speech, Prof Er thanked the alumni for their support and encouraged them to continue their engagement with their alma mater. "I look forward to seeing you getting involved in NTU's new phase of development and growth as an autonomous University. There is more to contribute as autonomy means we enjoy greater latitude in formulating NTU's strategies and in taking bigger strides towards excellence," he said.

Prof Er added: "I am sure that amongst you, there are many who have made a mark in your chosen enterprise. For this, I congratulate you for having done well and doing the University proud. It is encouraging to see that we have produced many successful NTU ambassadors over the years. Each of you, with your unique knowledge and experience, can enrich the others through your support of alumni-related activities."

Other distinguished guests attending the reunion anniversaries included Mr Anthony Teo, Secretary to the University, Professor Pan Tso-Chien, Dean of College of Engineering and Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of UniSIM.

The reunion was organised by a committee of alumni volunteers, led by Mr Walter Lee, alumnus from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Class of 1988. He also gave a speech, in whihc he spoke of his days on campus and the importance of staying connected.

Alumni who returned were treated to a campus tour, wine and coffee tasting, as well as a karaoke session. The event also witnessed the laying of the class plaques, bearing the class years "88", "93", "98" and "03", at the University Quadrangle, as part of an annual tradition that began in 2005.

Fellow alumna from the Class of 1988, Ms Teo Ser Lee, the emcee for the event, was honoured to be able to contribute to the event. Mr Raman Bhadhri Prasad, Class of 2003, said: "It was a great opportunity to relive the NTU experience by meeting up with old friends and senior management from NTU. The ambience was for networking and it was a nice touch to add wine tasting and gourmet coffee tasting sessions. I certainly look forward to more interesting events like this one!"

Also elated, Ms Sharon Lim, Class of 1998, said: "This event really brought back feelings of nostalgia! It was great to see my old friends once again, as well as their spouses and children." Echoing her views was Mr Chew Chin Ming from the Class of 1993, who said: "It's good to see old classmates once again after 15 years. It's amazing how time flies!"
