Some 50 alumni gather at the NTU Alumni Club to show off their golden voices.
Organised by the NTU Alumni Affairs Office, the alumni who attended the karaoke session on 19 January 2008 showed off their singing prowess as they belted out one song after another, from the oldies to more contemporary ballads.
They came together – alumni from various eras – with a common purpose: to sing their hearts out. And whether they were professionals or amateurs, everyone enjoyed the fun-filled night of singing and networking.
Mr Jim Lim, a graduate from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1999, brought a friend with him and had already sung two songs when we spoke with him. He said, "I like to sing karaoke and these sessions offer good opportunities for networking. In fact, I'm seldom in Singapore; I spend about two weeks each month in Singapore. So I'm happy to be able to make it for this event!"
A Geography graduate from the Class of 1974, Ms Chan Mei Ying was happy to sing a song with her ex-roommate that evening. Said Ms Chan: "I didn't plan on attending initially but my friends called me up and persuaded me to join them. I'm glad I came. I haven't seen some of them for a long time since everyone has been so busy with their own work. I had a good time catching up with them."
That evening's karaoke gathering was a night out with a difference, a night that the alumni who attended will surely look back on with fond memories.
