The pioneer batch of graduates from the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) celebrated their graduation in style at Mount Faber on 19 May, and had a night to remember!
The graduation night which was held at The Altivo at Mount Faber, saw a total of about 100 guests attending. These guests included the Dean of SBS, Professor James Tam; Director of Alumni Affairs Office, Mr Soon Min Yam; lecturers, the new graduates and representatives from the sponsoring companies.
In his message to the graduates, Prof James Tam said: "We celebrate your energy and hardwork. When we started this School, we designed a new and vigorous 4-year honour curriculum that modeled and benchmarked the best universities such as Caltech, MIT and Stanford. Indeed, you have completed this challenging course with flying colours. We are confident that you have received the best education and you are among the best biological science graduates in the world."
Mr Soon welcomed the new graduates into the Nanyang Alumni family and encouraged them to stay connected with the alma mater. He said: "The alumni family is a very important constituent of the NTU Community and we will continuously stay connected with them. We want to keep all our alumni regularly informed on the policies, progress and development of the University and also to involve them in the continuing development of the University."
It was an evening for the graduates to celebrate and spend time with their peers and mingle with their professors who had guided them through the four years at NTU. The guests were shown a video presentation which captured all the wonderful memories of the students. Everyone had fun with the games and a lucky draw and there was even a dance performance by the lecturers who gamely went on stage and surprised everyone!
The SBS alumni will cherish their student days in NTU and will remember this very special night.
