Cheer on our trail-blazing NTU Dragon Boat Team!

The Prime Minister's Cup race is back, with a new 1000m women's category. Let us rally together and give our fullest support to the NTU team on 2 July!

This year's thrilling Prime Minister's Cup race will take place on the second day of the Singapore Dragon Boat Festival at Bedok Reservoir. It will be more keenly contested as SIM University and the Singapore Management University will also be vying for the top prize.

Says the men's team captain, third-year computer engineering student Ho Xin Zhi: "I'm confident the team will do its best and put up a good show at the race. Everyone is looking forward to this race and it's a chance for us to perform to our best potential."

Another highly-anticipated addition to the festival this year is the inaugural 1,000m women's race, featuring a challenge trophy donated by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

NTU is ready to take on the competition, says the Captain of the women's team, Pang Hui Qi, a third-year materials science & engineering student. "My teammates and I are excited to be finally given this opportunity to race in the first PM's Cup for women!"

She adds: "It has been long-awaited... all the varsities have been actively trying to include the ladies in this prestigious race. This year, all four universities are invited and it definitely adds more colour and excitement to the Singapore Dragon Boat Festival."

First mooted by then-Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong in 1999 as a race between NTU and the National University of Singapore, the Prime Minister's Cup race may be likened to the highly contested annual boat race between Oxford University and Cambridge University.
So join us and be decked out in red for a wonderful Sunday at Bedok Reservoir!
