The University's alumni network expands with the launch of two more alumni associations in Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces.
NTU launched two more alumni associations - Zhejiang on 7 and Jiangsu on 8 March - increasing its number to 10 being set up in China. The other eight were previously established in Beijing, Chongqing, Guangdong, Hubei, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong and Shanghai.
Launch of NTU Alumni Association (Zhejiang)
NTU President, Dr Su Guaning, said at the launch: "The Zhejiang alumni association will serve as a platform for our alumni to engage in networking, learning, and mutual-cooperation…NTU is determined to develop a strong university community comprising alumni, faculty, administration, students and their parents. Our alumni in Zhejiang constitute an active part of this community and are also the university's valued stakeholders."
The President of the new association, Mr Zhang Dai, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to NTU, and to his committee for their efforts in making the launch a great success. He was determined to double the efforts of the association in promoting more interaction between alumni and their alma mater.
Mr Zhang went on to reveal a 'back-to-school' visit for Zhejiang alumni this October, to revisit NTU. There were also plans to organise a seminar to introduce NTU to their children and friends, and to render assistance to those who wish to pursue their studies in NTU.
The launch of the alumni chapter in Zhejiang was witnessed by Singapore's Consul-General to Shanghai, Mr Yip Wei Kiat, Director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Mr Jin Yonghui, who serves as Advisor to the Association, NTU Secretary to the University, Mr Anthony Teo, Nanyang Business School Associate Dean Chinese Programme, Assoc Professor Tan Kok Hui, NTU Alumni Affairs Director, Mr Soon Min Yam, as well as representatives from sister alumni chapters from Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong, Hubei and Jiangsu.
Over 130 China-based alumni in Zhejiang province gathered at the beautiful West Lake, to celebrate the launch of their association.
Launch of NTU Alumni Association (Jiangsu)
Mr Jiang Xinning, President of the newly formed NTU Alumni Association (Jiangsu), vowed to inherit the Nantah Spirit of "making self-improvement unceasingly and striving for the best(自强不息,力求上进)". He also announced that the provincial-level association had set up six branches in various regions of the province, namely, the regions of Changzhou, Nanjing, Central and Northern Jiangsu, Suzhou, Wuxi and Zhenjiang.
The launch was graced by the Guest of Honour, NTU President Su Guaning, many important guests from Singapore and China, including Singapore's Consul-General to Shanghai, Mr Yip Wei Kiat, Deputy Consul-General, Mr Gan Teng Kiat, Deputy Chairman of China's Hebei Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee and alumnus Mr Song Changrui, Party Secretary of Nanjing University Professor Hong Yinxing, NTU Secretary to the University, Mr Anthony Teo, Associate Dean Nanyang Business School, Assoc Professor Tan Kok Hui, NTU Alumni Affairs Director, Mr Soon Min Yam, as well as representatives from Beijing, Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong.
Over 150 China-based alumni and guests gathered at the International Convention Centre located in the beautiful and historical city of Nanjing, for the launch of NTU's Jiangsu alumni association.
