  Career boost at chill-out session

Nanyang Business School alumni enjoy drinks and learn about headhunting at the same time.

The typical "Chill Out at Harry's" held every quarter by the Nanyang Business School (NBS) took on a new twist on 17 April when the School invited staff from Hudson, a world leading recruitment company, to be part of the event. It was the first time a headhunting firm was introduced to network with the NBS alumni community.

NBS alumni from both the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes, as well as current MBA participants were invited to join in this networking opportunity. Participants had already started streaming in before the official starting time of 6.30pm, and 300 discount drink coupons were quickly snapped up. President of the MBA Alumni Association, Mr Lim Chee Kiong and Honorary Secretary of the NBS Alumni Association, Mr Andrew Tan, were also present to lend their support for this event.

Hudson, known for its illustrious experience in the recruitment business, provided an excellent platform for the sharing of attractive career opportunities and advice to the alumni. Ms Pernille Storm, Director of Accounting, Banking & Finance at Hudson, was very pleased and commented that Hudson would most certainly continue its partnership with NBS for future alumni events.

Said Ms Storm: "We enjoyed collaborating with NBS Alumni Affairs Office for this event, not only because quite a few Hudson Consultants are NBS alumni who enjoyed seeing old schoolmates again; but also because of the general atmosphere that evening. It was a really warm, friendly and fun gathering!"

"It was a great honour for Hudson to participate and we are always happy to be able to contribute in any way we can to NBS. For alumni, it is really all about having a more personal point of contact with a global recruitment firm. We are pleased with the very positive feedback our consultants received from your participants. We are more than happy to advise alumni on the current job market," she added.

During the lucky draw segment later that evening, winners walked away with Golden Village movie tickets and exclusive NBS Sasha bears.

Mr Yi Yuandong, from the Class of 2006, a regular at NBS alumni events found the social exchange tremendously beneficial. He said: "I got to know the job market trends and salary information. The consultants helped to familiarise me with the process of head-hunting and requirements for various positions."
