Mentor-Link

Ever wish that you could have someone to tell you more about what's out there in the industry. Fret not. You could now use the Mentor-link service to bridge your info gap about a particular industry or organization. We connect you to alumni seniors in the industry through a once-off contact (by phone, email or face-to-face appointments).

By locating an alumni volunteer, you could gather information from him/her on a particular career, industry or organisation. Our alumni volunteers can provide you with their insiders' perspective and they will advise you on suitable options to help you transit to the working world.

The list of alumni volunteers from various industries and specialisations is available online at CareerHub. You can access this list and search for an alumni volunteer regarding a particular aspect you are interested to find out.  Our volunteers could be contacted through phone, email or face-to-face appointments. For each alumni volunteer, the way to contact them has been specified in the list. To obtain the contact details of the alumni volunteer, simply make your request below and you will receive the contact details of your selected volunteer via email.

Good etiquette for contact session

1.  Be punctual and polite at all times
2.  Introduce yourself and briefly describe your intention.
3.  Be sincere and honest.
4.  Be prepared. Know the type of information that you want to ask from the volunteer. Being focused will help to keep the contact session short and fruitful.
5.  Consolidate all your informational needs to be asked at one go. Do not keep on calling or emailing the alumni volunteer for information. You should only contact the volunteer once unless he is agreeable for subsequent contact sessions.
6.  Never ask for jobs from alumni volunteer. The contact session is meant for you to gather information about a job to assess a career option, not for asking for job opportunities.
7.  Never demand for information. Ask politely. Remember they are availing their time to help you voluntarily.
8.  Always thank the alumni volunteer regardless of whether you are able to obtain adequate information from the alumni volunteer.
9.  Send a thank you note/email to the alumni volunteer if possible.
