Call Me Din
Amirrudin
Hi everyone,

I am your new CITS colleague who just joined on 13 October 2008. It's a privilege to be working for NTU and being a part of the family. I am looking forward to the new challenges, meeting new friends, contributing and learning from the rest.

I was with SP Services (SP) for about 6½ years. It has been a wonderful experience working in SP as it was my first occupation after NS. I appreciate the time given to me to learn and embark on my IT career there. I was supporting the MSSL system in which large electricity consumers were permitted to choose their energy providers. I believe that this energy liberation will be extended to the residential consumers in the coming future.

I hold a Bachelor of Applied IT from the University of Newcastle, Australia and currently pursuing MSc (Information Systems) in NTU.

My hobbies include playing the guitar but my skill is pretty 'rusty' now :D. I love sports, especially soccer and badminton and I was once part of the badminton school team. There was one occasion where we played against the National Youth Team, but as expected, we lost terribly. It was tiring and difficult balancing between studies and sports, so now I play only to keep my weight and tummy in check.

Taufik Hidayat from Indonesia is my badminton idol, he is silky and smooth player of immense talent, versus the aggressive but equally talented Chen Dan from China. I hope that I can find some 'kaki' in CITS to join me for some badminton sessions.

Another memorable experience for me was my trip to East Timor during my active NS days. I had volunteered and served as a combat medic for the Singapore Army Contingent for 3 months. Our role was to provide medical care to coalition soldiers reporting under the United Nations.
