The ownership of Desktop PC has dropped slightly from 71% to 70.5%. Notebook and Sub-notebook ownership among the new students has increased from 34.5% to 44.3%. Mac ownership has also increased from 2.4% to 6.0%. There were slightly more new students owning Tablet PC (now: 2.3%). The Windows Mobile Smartphone ownership has dropped from 9.9% to 3.7%. For other personal devices, slightly less (56.0%) of the respondents owned MP3 players and slightly more (0.4%) of them owned Blackberry as compared to the previous year.

We Play a Part To promote mobile computing and computer ownership for students and staff of the University, NTU has tied up with major computer manufacturers to offer notebooks and PCs to our campus community at attractive prices. In the academic year 2008/09, more than 20 models ranging from ultra-portable notebooks to desktop PCs are offered. Models will be refreshed regularly to keep up with the latest processor technology. Eligible full-time undergraduates studying in NTU may also apply for an interest-free financial loan for the purchase of stipulated computer models. The loan repayment will only begin after graduation. Interested students may check the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) site ( http://www.ntu.edu.sg/admissions/financialassistance/pcloan/) for the terms and conditions and application period for the loan. To view the range of models and latest pricing, please visit the CITS website's Latest Deals section ( http://www3.ntu.edu.sg/CITS2/computerdeals/compcategory.htm)
